“A chi appartieni?”

I remember a friend telling me one day that in the south Italy to ask who you are, the formula is:
 "Who do you belong to?".
In perhaps the most beautiful book ever, "Memory of memory", Marija Stepanova discusses the importance of researching and knowing our origin to define our identity so as to arrive at the extreme case of Goldchain which having no memory his family tree reconstructed a fictional family album ("I am my family") in order to have a proof that would define his origins and roots, and it is so fascinating and mysterious to think that despite our chronological life time it starts from our birth, or perhaps shortly before, to say who we are, we need so deeply to find home.
Although our life takes place in the so-called present, the one of which we have bodily and subjective experience, in the first person, and therefore actually in the concrete a story to tell, ours, we have it, we would have it, something on which to base the story of ourselves, here, it is tremendously fascinating to think that for some reason we have an innate need to "belong".
